X-linked genetic diseases affect children born around the world every day.  Though the number of people affected by these diseases is much lower than those who suffer from hypertension or diabetes, these diseases must be brought to the forefront because they are inherited, debilitating, and sometimes fatal.  Another reason that the study and understanding of these diseases is so crucial is that they strike innocent children, sometimes from birth and sometimes in their early childhood, and for some of them there is not a cure, or even an effective treatment!
